What this estimate assumes
- A single residential property, with one buyer, one seller and one bond.
- The seller is not a VAT vendor, so the sale attracts transfer duty rather than VAT. If you are buying from a VAT-registered developer, this calculator will overstate your costs.
- No transfer duty exemption applies.
- Standard transfer duty rates. The same table applies to individuals, companies, close corporations and trusts.
- You, the buyer, pay the transfer and bond costs, which is the usual position in South Africa.
- Your attorney charges the guideline tariff. Fees are negotiable, so an actual quote may be higher or lower.
Please note: Most banks charge a separate administration and initiation fee on a new bond, which is not included here.
Disclaimer: These calculations are a guide only. Please ask your conveyancer for exact figures.
Effective dates: Figures are based on published tariffs as at the effective dates shown below and do not constitute a quotation.
